It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Leo Robert Rowe which occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, February 28th, 2020. Born 1944, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Gordon and Gladys (Cyr) Rowe. Leo was Owner/Operator of Rowe’s Construction. He worked as a Longshoreman for many years on the Frigate Program at the Saint John Dry Dock. Leo was a member of Cupe Local 273 as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Nascar fan, a Boston Bruins fan and he cherished his 57’ Chevy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the camp with Joe, Al sr., Al jr., Jeff and Butch. Most of all, he loved his family and he adored his grandchildren and great granddaughter, they were his pride and joy.
Leo is survived by his daughters April Jaillet (Joe) of Saint John; Sherry Rowe (Lori) of Saint John and their mother Geralda Rowe; son Blaine Tompkins (Rhonda) of Woodstock; brother and best friend Sonny Rowe (Dorothy) of Willow Grove; sisters Marilyn Cook (Eddie) of Saint John, Barb Rowe (Sue) of Saint John, Cheryl Webb (Wayne) of Hoyt; grandchildren Brandon Jaillet (Mia), Stephanie Jaillet, Brittanie Jaillet (Katlin Howe), Kurtis Bonin, Samantha Tompkins, Ryan Tompkins; great grandchild Aubree Howe; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and special friend Judy. Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by his daughter Lisa, sister Cathy and brother Frank “Cab”.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, March 2nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday, March 3rd at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Leo may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
