It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful
passing of L. Doreen (nee Smith) Floyd on 21 October 2020 at Dr.
Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Born in Titusville NB on 7 Aug 1933, she was a graduate of
Hampton Consolidated School and Saint John General Hospital School of
Nursing. Doreen loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother.
While raising her family Doreen enjoyed many years of fishing
and gardening along the Miramichi River as well as adventures
travelling in North America and beyond. She was always ready
to show up the boys with the best catch and the largest salmon
learning to tie her own flies. The many wonderful gatherings she
planned and hosted live on in the memories of her family and
friends. Doreen was a whiz at Cribbage and Midnight
Canasta.
Doreen leaves behind husband Kenneth; four children Stephen,
Dean (Patricia, nee Gonnin), Beth, James (Teresa nee Boone); six
grandchildren Isaac, Monique (Reegan Walker), Eric, Ian (Erin
Dempsey), Arthur and Connor; two great grandchildren Joshua and
Hunter. In addition, Doreen is survived by brother David (Marion)
Smith and Sister-in-law Louise (Raymond predeceased) Smith. She is
predeceased by her parents Oscar and Delia Smith, Sisters Melva
(Norman) Clarke, Lola (Wilfred) Steeves and, brother Raymond
Smith.
Due to the circumstances in the province there will be no
funeral or visitation. A Celebration of Life will take place
at a later date.
In lieu of flowers we would prefer donations in memoriam to
Forest Hill United Church, Titus Hill Cemetery, or a charity of the
donors’ choice.
