June Sceviour Monday November 23rd 2020 avis de deces

June passed away peacefully at Health Science North at the age of 82 . Her struggle with a severe stroke came to an end & she left this world for a far better place. “Till we meet again my friend”
There’s a precise moment in the early mornings when I know the temperature reaches its coldest point and a ribbon of pastel pink clouds kiss the tops of the evergreens at Clearwater – June’s retreat. It is at that specific time when the cold Clearwater mornings coaxed our blue-eyed teacher – friend to rise and head to work or chauffeur Margery to school – so many memories.
June began her lovely teaching career in Hamilton, not only teaching Physical Education but also performing the duties as a Department Head and Physical Education consultant. She taught there for 11 years after which she taught for 6 years in North York before deciding to move to Sudbury. During her 17 years at LaSalle Secondary School she was the Physical Education Head and taught Physical and Health Education. In addition to these roles June was actively involved in the Sudbury District Athletic Association . She coached basketball for several years, as well as having convened cross country running and city NOSSA basketball. She was honoured to receive the award from Sudbury Board of Education for outstanding contribution to the co-curricular program.
June-fondly called Scevie by her friends was originally from Toronto and graduated from the University of Toronto with a BA and B.P.H.E. June had a tight circle of friends and they have stood by for a lifetime. She will be dearly missed by Vicki Harrison and Kimberly Narozanski , godchildren Lola and Brandy and Max – her surviving Feline.
She was a wonderful partner to Margery Dash for over 40 years who was the love of her life (pre-deceased) & a loving daughter to Edith and Frank Sceviour (predeceased) & dear sister to William Sceviour (predeceased).
June & Marge loved to cruise and cruised the world away on Holland America. June was an avid tennis player for 50 years and respected member of Sudbury Tennis Club , all round excellent athlete, avid reader and wonderful gardener – volunteer with Bell Park Friends of Gardening. She was a signature figure at Camp Couchiching where she mentored many campers in outdoor education & touched more people than we will ever know. This is where she met Margery 45 years ago.
June appreciated everything anyone would do for her. She paid hired handymen, contractors and mowers on the spot, making sure they left with generous gratitude to show her sincere appreciation. June was the best friend anyone could ever want, our friend would take the shirt off her back to help others. With a heart of gold, all her neighbors loved her. She taught us the value of honest work and the importance of prudence.
She lived a long, simple, quiet and comfortable life at her Clearwater Lake home and two years past , after an illness she decided to move into a Retirement home in Lively , known as Meadowbrook – Room 711 – where she enjoyed her stay until she had a stroke on September 13th – 2020. She truly was a beautiful person, loving partner and endearing mother to her three sets of kittens – Siamese babies of which Max survives in loving care from Sherry and Maurice and her passion for “Moosies” was prevalent in her priceless & abundant collection.
Even while confined to her walker at Meadowbrook, she made efforts to socialize with her resident’s at Meadowbrook. Her friendship and love spread into so many circles of life that the impact of her loss will be felt by many. For her friends that remain may this obituary ignite fond memories of June, who is smiling down upon us, hoping that we respect each other, take a moment to say hello and be kind to all. We are proud to have had June as our friend – part of our family that made us better and stronger human beings.
Thank you – to wonderful staff at Health Sciences North, such dedication given during this pandemic – noting the special care from Doctor Zamantis, endearing Nurse Felix & also to the staff at Meadowbrook for her care and their generous nature.
We will never forget her loving ways! She truly was a best friend!
At June’s request , there will be no visitation or service . ** Private Burial at Civic Mausoleum
If , desired donations to Pet Save – those were her wishes – especially during these difficult times for animal owners .
