Obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of our friend,
Joyce Pauline KOWALYK
Joyce was born on December 8, 1944 in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and passed away quickly and peacefully on October 18, 2020 at Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Joyce was a unique, feisty soul who enjoyed long walks uptown, chatting with people she knew along the way, she never turned down a good strong cup of McDonald’s coffee, and was always on the look out for a good bargain.
Joyce worked at Ridge Meadows Hospital as an LPN for many years and was especially passionate about her work on Maternity/Pediatrics, providing such excellent care to so many new babies, children, and families of her community.
Joyce was also a devoted, loving daughter to her mom, Clara Kowalyk, caring for her for many years until her death in May 2000.
During her early retirement years Joyce loved to house & pet sit for her friends.
Thank you to the staff at Maple Ridge Senior’s Village & Ridge Meadows Hospital ER/2W for all their kindness and care.
Joyce will be missed by her longtime friend and coworker, Andrea Dolan and longtime friends, who held a special place in her heart – Pat & Janete Hughes, Josh & Michelle Hughes, son Carter and daughter Winter, Jeremy & Sheri Hughes, daughters Isabelle & Olivia.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date however, a donation in Joyce’s memory can be made to the RMH Maternity/Pediatric Unit and would be greatly appreciated at this time.
