Obituary for Joyce Lenzo
With dignity and grace, which truly defined her 94 years, Joyce Hope (nee Simpson) Lenzo, passed peacefully at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, on Thursday, June 18 ,2020. Predeceased by her husband, Reginald (Reg) Lenzo (1984), she is survived and forever loved by daughters, Carolyn (Lonny) Napper of Wyoming and Ginny (Don) McMurray of Sarnia. Cherished sweet grandmother of Don Jr. (Lisa) McMurray of London, David (Carla) McMurray of London, and Vicki (Mike) Maxel of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Treasured great grandmother of Erin McMurray, Josh McMurray and MacKenzie McMurray, Brooklyn McMurray, all of London.
Born on the family farm on Egremont Rd., Plympton Twp. September 19, 1925, she was predeceased by parents John and Kate Simpson and sister, Faye Gibb of Nova Scotia. Raised in a very musical family, she inherited the ability to play many instruments and with her exceptional singing voice, our home was always filled with music, laughter and people. For many years, she joined her husband, Reg, playing in a country western band.
A genuinely kind and gentle soul, she was however, fiercely independent. She taught us that hard work, honesty and dedication were non negotiable and she lived her life with patience, proving to us by example, that sincerity, respect and putting all others ahead of herself, was always, unquestionably, the thing to do.
Mom was a beautiful person inside and out and we are so grateful that her never ending positivity, cheerful sparkle and fabulous sense of humor remained with her until the end. We were all so blessed to have had her in our lives and give thanks to God that we were chosen to have been her family.
Our family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Anne, Jane and all the nurses of Barclay Lane and staff at Fiddick’s Nursing Home for their exceptional care, sincere compassion and friendship shown to Mom, during her two years with them. We also want to express our gratitude to Mom’s dear friends, Norma Piggott and Helen Ahrens and members of the Starlight Rebekah Lodge, for their constant kindness and visitations. It meant so much.
Respecting Mom’s wishes, she will be cremated and there will not be any visitation. A private family graveside service will follow in a few weeks Wyoming Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the MS Society (www.mssociety.ca) or Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
