Obituary
Joyce Elaine Ross, at age 87, passed away on June 6; 2020 in Calgary. She was born at Cantuar, Sk on January 20, 1933.
She is survived by her 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson:
Daughter Nola Whitehead of Fairview, AB ; her children Odessa (Terry) Websdale, Tyson (Brenda) Whitehead, Cobern (Jamie) Whitehead, and Delraina (Casey) Duggan.
Daughter Ellen (Terry) Waddell of Stettler, AB; their children Jan (Roland) Morton, Vanessa Averill, Roscoe (Jenessa) Waddell.
Son Mark (Norma) Ross of Calgary, AB: their children Lindsay (Kyle) MacLean, Becky Ross, Brittany Ross, Dallas Ross, and Alexis Ross.
Son David Ross of High River, AB; (Lori Ross of Camrose) and their children Amberlene (Ivor) Rindero, Carl (Elizabeth) Ross, Allan (Cassandra) Ross, Lane (Jelissa) Ross.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Ivan in 2018, her son-in-law David Whitehead in 2019, her parents John and Faye Allan; and her brothers and sisters-in-law; Robert (Grace), Glenn (Helen).
Ivan and Joyce were married on May 21, 1953 for 65 years! They began a grain and cow/calf farming operation; and raised 4 children at Cantuar, SK. Their shared faith brought them into a wide circle of friends from near and far. They retired to Okotoks, AB to be near family; then a few years later to High River, AB. Mom spent many hours entertaining, gardening, and painting animals or scenery.
In 2017, Joyce moved into Seasons care home in High River and was followed there by Ivan in 2018. They spent many contented hours together in Mom’s room, holding hands. After Dad passed away in 2018, Joyce moved to AgeCare Midnapore in early 2019 to benefit from the specialized care and therapy treatment available at that facility.
Our family is very thankful for the support and loving attention provided by the Nurses, Health Care Attendants, Physical Recreation Therapists and Kitchen Staff of Age Care Midnapore, where Mom was surrounded by pictures of her family and her paintings. Also, for the support of her ministry and friends in faith; and the many relatives and friends who supported her in her final years.
A graveside service will be held at Highwood Cemetery for family and a few close friends (in compliance with current restrictions) on June 11, 2020 at 1pm.
