We regret to announce the passing of John Calver Langford of Sugar Camp, Richmond County on July 15, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Lewes, England on March 5, 1941, he was a son of the late Calver and Phyllis(Marks) Langford.
John came to Canada in 1955, where he met and married the love of his life, Marjorie Dolomont in 1962. John is survived by sons, Bobby (Joanne) Trider, Sugar Camp, John, Sydney; grandchildren, Alanah and Linden; sister, Jennifer; and brother, David; and many extended family members.
John served in the Canadian Forces for 23 years; spending two tours as a peacekeeper in Cyprus and Alert. After retiring from the forces, he went to work for Canada Post serving as Post Master in Port Hastings for many years.
John enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, reading his books, adventures with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved watching his granddaughter, Alanah ride her horses and enjoyed talking to his grandson, Linden about cars; especially the WRX’S.
There will be a private visitation on Friday July 17, 2020 with a graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney, Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Hope for Wild Life, 5909 NS-207, Head of Chezzetcook, NS B0J 1N0. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St. Port Hawkesbury.
