I. Joan Rolph, age 78, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on March 5, 2020. Born in Listowel, Ontario daughter of the late Ross and Annie Milne.
Joan was a committed, life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #8, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Army, Navy Air Force Veterans, Unit #261 and Avondale United Church where she spent many hours volunteering. She was also a long time devoted volunteer with the Acquired Brain Injury Group of Stratford. Those who knew Joan will remember her for her sharp wit, sense of humour and her love for her family and her cat Mr. Smoke.
Predeceased by her first husband Kenneth Wood (1979), by her second husband Darrell Rolph (2012). Survived by her children Christopher Wood (Laurie), Kevin Wood (Sue), Jeff Wood (Donna), Cindy McClure, Jeff Rolph (Liz), Susan Rolph. Very special grandmother of Shawn Wood (Jenny), Craig Wood (Molly), Rachel Wood, Averlee Morrison, Shaina Wood (Cory), Jeff Wood Jr. (Selena), Patrick McClure (Jen), Shayne McClure (Alicia), Eric McClure, Jon Rolph (Chloe), Ken Rolph (Nicole), Carly Rolph and great-grandmother of Kensleigh, Campbell and Dawson. Also survived by a brother Ron Milne (Bev), sister-in-law Sandra Milne, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Earl Wood (Audrey), Maureen Wood, Ken Rolph (Marjory), Barry Rolph (Doris) and Norma Rolph. Fondly remembered by her companion Bob Steckley. Predeceased by grandson James Wood, sister Betti Hall and brother Murray Milne.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 804 Ontario Street, Stratford on Saturday, March 14, starting at 2 p.m. with words of remembrance at 3 p.m. A family interment will be held at Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8 Poppy Fund or the Brain Injury Association of London, (Stratford Chapter – Grateful Heads) through the W.G.
