Obituary of Jeannette Lever
LEVER, (nee McClure) Jeannette (Jeanne) B Peacefully with family at her side at Lee Manor in Owen Sound on May 18th, 2020 at the age of 91. Beloved wife and best friend of the late John Lever for 62 years.
Loving mother of Kenneth Lever and his wife Gloria of Mount Pleasant, Debra Cantwell (late Ed) of Hamilton and Catherine Reitzel and her husband Paul of Waterloo. Proud grandmother of the late Jason, Christy (Patrick), Denice (Troy), Raymond (Christine), Richard (Sarah), Christopher, Jamie (Gary) and Kevin. Great-grandmother of Dillon, Connor, Asher, Claire, Griffin and Chelsea. Predeceased by her parents, Ivan and Mary (nee Purdy) McClure of Williamsford. Sister to the late Ken (Dora) McClure of St Catharines, late May (Bob) Clark of Owen Sound, late John (Bawn) McClure of Mississauga, Murray (Rose) McClure of Toronto, Margaret (Jim) Thurston of Burlington and Agnes (Bob) of Barrie.
Jeanne worked at the Burford Post Office for many years, but the family is especially proud to acknowledge that their mother went back to school in her early 40’s and graduated from the Toronto Quo Vadis School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was employed for many years at the Grey Bruce Hospital and the Owen Sound Jail. In retirement Jeanne volunteered with the Red Cross Society, was a proud member of the Baker Street Bridge Club and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. A loyal and faithful fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. We will never forget her knitting and baking, especially the apple pies. Mom and Dad are once again dancing together.
A private funeral service for Jeanne will be held on Friday May 22nd 2020 at 2:30 with Reverend Ted Creen officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
