Sister Ruth (Lloyd) Meadows and their daughter Heather (Scott) Saunders and their children, Jordan, Aidan and Ava. Nieces and Nephews, Brad (Jen) Gibson and their son, Brayden, Michelle (Ted) Greenhough, and Brett Gibson. Brother-in-Law Duane (Kathy) Collopy and their children Tom and Alexa, Sisters- in-Law Rennie Holley and her daughter Arren (Lance) Cucheran and their children Maddy and Jakob. Jean (Larry) Taylor and their son Christopher, daughter Jennie (Darryl) Russell and their daughter Kaylee, Aunt June Rennie and many cousins and friends.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was incredibly talented in the kitchen, home and garden and was a gracious teacher in all she had learned. There was nothing like Grandma’s Christmas dinner with all the fixings. Anything that came from her kitchen was a delight to the taste buds. She was an avid gardener and had a spectacular garden filled with beautiful flowers, shrubs, trees, bushes, grasses, annuals and perennials that you had to see to believe. The vegetable garden was also filled with an enormous bounty that made its way through the kitchen to your plate. Jean enjoyed the outdoors and could be found somewhere outside from spring to fall and enjoyed her loveseat and a warm blanket in the cold winter months. Jean spoiled anything that she had contact with whether it was her husband, sons, grandkids, pets or garden, they all received special treatment. Jean had a huge heart and family always came first, she loved talking about her family and their successes. Jean was so very strong, and she kept most of her emotions to herself, her battle with cancer proved this well. “I’m fine” was her answer to just about everything when asked if she needed something or how she was doing. She was a rock and you could always count on her for support. Her passing leaves a huge void, and at this point seems almost impossible to fill, but we will heal and part of her will be with us always.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes there will be no funeral service but the family invites everyone to join us in a Memorial Tea celebrating Jean’s life at the Alameda Legion Hall on Thursday January 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Galloway Health Centre, 713 Tupper Street, Oxbow, SK S0C 2B0 in Jean’s memory.
Jean’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr Botha, Dr. Hyman and to all the caring and compassionate nurses and staff at the Galloway Health Center for the excellent care and support that she was given while in their care. It was greatly appreciated by Jean and the family. We would also like to thank every who stopped by with well wishes while she was a patient there, for all the calls and messages, gifts of food, and most of all the love and support.
Yvonne Clark at Hall Funeral Services, Estevan is assisting Jean’s family.
