Helmut passed away peacefully with family by his side, at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in his 73rd year.
Beloved husband of Katy for 52 years. Loving father to Christopher Emrich and his wife Jennifer, David Emrich and his wife Andrea, Katharina Karst and her husband John, and Kimberly Emrich. Adored Oti to Cierra and Brock Emrich, Katelyn, Joshua and Thomas Emrich, Evan, Breanna and Aidan Karst, and Michael, Cameron and Evelyn Stuehler. Cherished brother to Dorothy Alderson and her husband Philip.
Predeceased by his parents George and Maria Emrich and parents-in-law Michael and Katharina Kauntz.
Helmut retired from J. M. Schneider after 39 years of service and was a longtime member of the Transylvania Club. He loved to travel and visited family and friends in Europe. Music was always a big part of Helmut’s life and he especially enjoyed his years as drummer for the band “The Sapphires”. He passed along his love of music to his family. Above all, family was the most important part of his life and enjoyed spending time with his family camping, participating in sports, dancing, and laughing. Helmut had a great sense of humour and enjoyed making people laugh.
The funeral service will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Enzo Pellini officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, to attend the service for Helmut, personal face coverings are required and relatives and friends must register (RSVP) by calling the funeral home at 519-745-8445. A livestream and recording of the service can be found at www.erbgood.com by selecting Helmut’s obituary. Interment at Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener will follow the funeral service.
