It is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce the passing of Helen Jane Rehberg of Cameron Mountain Road on September 9, 2020 at Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital.
Born in Grande Anse, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Hilda (MacRae) Matthews.
Helen was a well respected employee of the Richmond Villa for 28 years who took great pride in her work. She loved her job, co-workers and the residents; which was demonstrated through her dedication, care, compassion, willingness to make a difference and hard work.
A devoted mother, wife and grandmother, Helen loved spending quality time with her family and grandchildren, shopping trips and could be found supporting her community at the local bingo, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, David; son, Ronnie (Darlene); daughter, Amanda (Johnny); grandchildren, Devon, Brian and Jodie; sisters, Irene, Annie Mae, Ruth (Dilly), Emily, Judy(George); brothers, Jackie (Jewl), Duncan (Marlene), George (Florence) and Brian (Debbie).
She was predeceased by her sisters, Georgina Rose, Ethel MacRae, Bernice Pringle and brothers, Charlie and Gerald Matthews.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the doctors and staff at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for their care and kindness.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury on Sunday September 13, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 & 5:00-7:00pm. Non-medical masks/face coverings, as well as physical distancing will be required.
Memorial Donations may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Palliative Care Program.
