Hedwig « Hedy »‘s Obituary
Hedy passed away Monday, March 3, 2020 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, at the age of 87. She was born October 16, 1932 in Bayard, Saskatchewan, to parents Wasil and Margaret Boyczuk. She attended Hapsburg School, following school she attended Teachers College. Hedy started teaching in 1953 in a one room school, and had a teaching career that spanned 29 3/4 years; retiring in Kayville, Saskatchewan. She married Sam Guraluick August 4, 1956 a marriage that lasted 53 years, until Sam’s passing in 2009. They lived most of their married lives on a farm near Kayville, Saskatchewan. Hedy immensely enjoyed her garden and flower garden. She also enjoyed dancing, visiting, and playing cards with family and friends. In the winter Sam and Hedy enjoyed curling, in bonspiels in neighboring towns. Hedy also enjoyed sports and loved playing ball even in her later years. She is predeceased by her parents, Wasil and Margaret Boyczuk; her husband, Samuel Guraluick; 9 brothers; and 4 sisters. Hedy is survived by her 3 children, Colin (Charlene), Monica (Dave), and Dean (Signe); her 9 grandchildren, Cody (Kaitie), Tyson (Kaelyn), Kristal (Darren), Patrick, Ryan (Kim), Braden (Melanie), Brodie (Laura), Breann (Bryce), and Brett; her 6 great-grandchildren, Nash, Karter, Nixon, Landon, Grace, and Madison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bengough Health Center and the third floor nursing staff of the Weyburn General Hospital. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Church (1064 3rd Avenue NW, Moose Jaw, SK) Monday, March 9, 2020 at 11:00AM. Reverend Father Tomy Mandapathil will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations can be made to Bengough Health Centre. In living memory of Hedy a memorial planting will be made by Jones – Parkview Funeral Services.
