Grandville M. “Coop » Cooper
Grandville Maynard « Coop »
Cooper, 92, of Moncton and formerly of Dundas, NB passed away on May
7, 2020. Born at Lac Baker, Madawaska County, NB, he was the
son of the late George and Blanche (Ouellette) Cooper.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Patrick and
sisters Leola, Viola and Lillian. Grandville is survived by his
brother, George of Quispamsis, NB.
Coop was a former rural mail delivery
driver, farmer, lumberman and beekeeper. He came to the West
family farm of Dundas at a young age and his commitment to his work
and the West family carried on through several generations.
While this work helped to define him, he was much more to the people
and communities of Dundas, New Scotland and Gladeside,
NB.
Often, Sunday afternoons were reserved
for visiting friends, especially his good friend, the late Harold
Horsman of Trafalgar Road, Dundas. Physically fit, Coop was known for
his ‘clap’ push ups, rope skipping, biking,
snowshoeing, skating on the mill pond at Gladeside and skating up and
down the Cocagne River. He would tell you skating down river
was much easier than skating up river. Always young at
heart, he was known for his jokes and happy-go-lucky
attitude. He enjoyed people of all ages, watching each
generation in the community grow up.
