It is with great sadness that the family of Glenn Harley Myra, 78 of Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester and formerly of Lunenburg announces his passing on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of Harley and Violet (Tanner) Myra.
Glenn started his working career in the 70’s scalloping out of Lunenburg and then went to work at Department of Transport with the Coast Guard until 1979. Glenn later worked as a marine mechanic with National Sea Products (High Liner Foods) until his retirement in 1994.
Glenn found great pleasure in the simple things of life and in his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, where he could be found camping, gardening, hunting and fishing and over the years travelling with his wife Catherine and family; dancing and enjoying the company of his four legged friend, Lady and conversations with his friends at Tim Horton’s.
In later years he took an interest in painting and many have enjoyed his work. He was a member of Central United Church and the Rod and Gun Club.
Glenn is survived by his daughters, Nancy Myra (Adrian Harry), Bridgewater, Susan (Lloyd) Tanner of Garden Lots, son, Michael Silver (Wanda Veinotte), Lunenburg, grandchildren, Melissa (Barry), Cameron (Veronica) and Janelle (Scott) and great-grandchildren; Rachel, Charlie and Oliver; sisters, Cindy (Wade) Knickle, Rhodes Corner; and Nadine (Frank) Grixti, Malta; and brother, Vincent Green (Linda Sawler) of Western Shore and several nieces and nephews.
Glenn was predeceased by his wife, Catherine and by his parents, Harley and Violet Myra.
A service to celebrate, Glenn’s life will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
Memorial donations in memory of Glenn may be made to Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of both Shoreham Village and the South Shore Regional Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion shown to Glenn while he was at the home and the hospital.
