Gladys Bray
1924-2020
Gladys Bray (nee Bartley) passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27th
at the Hanover Hospital as the sun rose in the east. Gladys was born
on January 19, 1924, the daughter of Robert and Ella Bartley. She
married Edwin Bray on May 17, 1946 in Ferndale. She will be dearly
missed by her two sons Lonnie of Wiarton, Leland and his wife Nancy of
Edmonton and daughter Bettyanne and her husband Stephen Cobean of Lake
Rosalind. Proud Grandma of Kim (Shawn), Rebecca, Shannon (Greg), Ryan
(Heather), Drew and Kinsley. Special Great Grandma to Rhett, Lela,
Hadley, Liam, Lydia and Brodie. Fondly remembered by sister in laws,
Annie Bartley and Alda Kaufman. Aunt Gladys to many Bartley and Bray
nieces and nephews.
Reunited with her husband Edwin (1975) and son Byron (2012) and
siblings Bernice, Lloyd, Elmer, Velma, Jean, Ralph, Allister and
Harvey, siblings in law Wilda, Evelyn, Lloyd, Leona, Reta, Pearl and
Norma and several nieces and nephews. What a blessed reunion that must
have been.
Gladys will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways, her butter
tarts and the Author of “Growing Up on The Bruce
Peninsula.”
A celebration of Gladys’ life will take place at a later date
when hugs, handshakes and love can be shared safely.
To represent Mom’s kind and giving heart please consider
performing an act of kindness or a donation to the Lion’s Head
Food Bank or the Hanover and District Hospital.
