Gerald (Gerry) Colbert
October 07, 1950 – June 15, 2020
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the sudden passing of the kindest, most loving husband, father, best friend, pop, friend, brother & uncle; Gerry Colbert at the age of 69 years.
Gerry was well known to people from his years on the road as a trucker. From Cape Broyle to Fort McMurray and all places in between; he met many men and women who had a lasting effect on him. He was a prankster who loved to play out his jokes, especially on his co-workers. He loved to party with his family and his friends and he made sure he was the life of the party. His passions in life were driving, trouting, fishing, music, and tormenting people; he did it all with love.
Predeceased by his mother and father: John and Margaret Colbert, and parents in law: Bernard and Annie O’Brien
Leaving to mourn; his best friend and loving wife of 39 years, Lorraine Colbert (O’Brien); his two sons who adored him: Shawn Colbert (Anita Colbert) and Scott Colbert (Rosalie Walsh); grandchildren: Emma Colbert and Baze Colbert, who were his pride and joy; brothers: Earl (Rhonda) and Joe (Wanda); sisters: Yvonne, Bonita, Alanna (Ray) and Cathy; in-laws: Robert, Randy (Sheila), Harry (Shonny), Darrin (Marissa), Michelle and Lana (George); as well as a long list of friends, especially his buddy Bill Murphy, Jason Bonia, Darrin O’Brien, Chris Loder, and his employer/friend Dean Harrigan and many co-workers and friends that are too numerous to mention.
Gerry will be forever missed and always remembered for being the kindest person with the best sense of humor and the most genuine heart.
His favorite time of year was Christmas, he loved loud music and getting everyone up as soon as possible. He spoiled the family and always went that extra mile to put his special mark on making memories. That will be cherished and carried on as a tradition for years to come through his children and grandchildren.
As quoted in one of his favorite songs; Meet me tonight by the campfire; come with me over the hill. (Harry does some job on that).
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Baltimore Breakfast Program, at Baltimore School; located in Ferryland, NL, In Gerry’s name.
