It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Franklin “Frank” Peter Lavigne at the age of 75, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital of Bathurst, N.B. on Monday August 3rd 2020.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Gordon Lavigne and late Evangeline (Lanteigne) Lavigne of South Bathurst.
Franklin will be missed by his loving wife Anne Bard-Lavigne, of Beresford and his daughters Liza Lavigne of Bathurst and Erica Lavigne of Oromocto, along with three brothers, Ronald Lavigne, Douglas Lavigne of Bathurst, Maurice Lavigne (Sharon) of St. Anne, one sister Roseline O’Connell of Kagawong Ont. As well as several sisters-in-law, brothers- in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Tommy, Randolph, Allan and Walter.
As a former employee for the city of Bathurst, Frank was a devoted peace officer (Policeman) for 42 years, always above and beyond the call of duty. His integrity, honesty and passion for his work marked his career.
Towards the end of his career, in preparation for retirement Frank enjoyed operating his enterprise OdeBay, a summer tourism business. He genuinely appreciated giving pontoon boat tours in the Bathurst Harbour and on the Nepisiguit River, recounting legends and stories of the area to his customers.
Due to the pandemic and at Frank’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. An informal gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the doctors and staff of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care he received during his brief stay.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home in Bathurst. Messages of condolences to the family can be sent through the web site www.elhatton.com
