Frank McEvoy passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 after a long battle with Dementia. Frank was born at home on July 28, 1946 in Semi Wagon Ridge, Barnabe River, New Brunswick.
His father, Louis passed away when Frank was 9 years old leaving his Mom with seven children, Reg, Ann, Catherine, Joanie, Frank, Peggy and Donnie.
Frank joined the Military when he was eighteen. He was posted to various Canadian Armed Forces, across Canada from Montreal, Chatham, Prince George and Lahr Germany as a Military Police Officer
It was in Lahr Germany that he met his wife, Evelyn, who was also in the Military as a Nursing Medic. Their first son, Kevin, was born in Germany. Frank was later posted to the Armed Forces base in Calgary. His Field instructing and teaching in Wainwright left Evelyn with their second son, Darrell. Frank was then posted to Cyprus for a six month tour with NATO. Upon returning from his tour Frank joined the Calgary City Police, excited to finally have the arrival of his daughter, Cindy.
Frank excelled in the Calgary Police Force and retired in 2000 as a Sergeant. Combining his Military and CPS of thirty five years service. He received many awards and accommodations.
Franks other passion was his love of hockey; he coached minor hockey and ringette. He started the Airdrie Thunder Junior Hockey club in 1994-95. He loved working with youths and young men and besides hockey he helped many achieve their goals in life.
Frank has left many wonderful memories with his three children, Kevin(Sandra), Damon and Alena; Darrell (Zeto, his dog), Cindy (Miles), Kya, Jaxon, and Brystol. He loved his grandchildren and his dog gave him so much joy and fun they always brought a big smile to his face.
Frank will never be forgotten for his love of life, sense of humour and kindness and understanding he gave to everyone.
The family thanks Bethany Care Nursing and Care Givers, Dr. Kyne and administration for the very compassionate care given to him in his final days in Airdrie.
