A. Floyd Schaefer
Albert Floyd Merle Schaefer passed away at his home in Ayr, on Sunday August 02, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of 62 years to Helen (nee Gehman). Loving father to Rod (Carolynne), Cheryl Hanley (Paul), Steve (Anne) and Janeen. Cherished grandfather to Courtney, Kayla, Jocelyn, Brittany, Dylan, Colten and Brendan. Great-grandfather to Greyson, Ridley, Sutter, Penelope, Tinsley and Henry. Sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Leone and Donna, his brother-in-law Lang and his wife Ruth as well as extended family and his many friends. Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Gertrude Schaefer (nee Goettling) and his brothers Don and Earl. Floyd was a true friend to his family and those who knew him. He worked locally as an auto and truck mechanic and marked in 57 years before his retirement. Floyd loved his sports, playing for local baseball and hockey teams and continued to enjoy helping, watching and cheering on his children and grandchildren in their sporting activities, as well as watching his favorite teams on the television. Floyd and his brother Don are the only people that skated on all three of the arena ice surfaces in Ayr. Floyd loved his wide circle of friends and will be missed by the crews in the coffee gangs as well as those he met walking at the NDCC. At this present time the family wishes to extend their deep gratitude and appreciation to those who have reached out to them and at a future time a celebration of Floyd’s life will be held. In Lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Cambridge Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
