Ellen Mae Eldridge
1944-2020
The peaceful passing of Ellen Mae (Greenlaw) Eldridge of Pennfield NB
occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on October
10, 2020 with her loving family at her side. Born in St. Stephen NB on
January 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Jessie
(Kernighan) Greenlaw. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
and sister, Ellen is survived by her children: Anita Hodgin (Rob) of
Hampton NB and Alan Lee (Lottie) of Fredericton NB; grandchildren:
Dawn Lee-Sutton (Sam), Tyler Hodgin and Spencer Hodgin;
great-grandchildren: Lilly and Bray Alan; the father of her children:
Gary Lee of Fredericton NB; brothers: George Greenlaw and James
Greenlaw; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her
parents, Ellen was predeceased by her husband: Adrian Eldridge.
Prior to illness, Ellen worked in various fields including child care
and for Connor’s Brothers in Blacks Harbour. She was a long time
resident of Collingwood Rest Home in Pennfield and she loved the
extended family she made there over the years. Ellen was strong in her
faith and read her devotional daily after having her morning coffee.
She was a long time member of the Calvary Atlantic Baptist Church in
Blacks Harbour where she was a member of the choir and active in both
the Willing Workers and Ladies Missionary groups. Ellen was a previous
member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Granite Chapter # 15 in St.
George and enjoyed the time she shared with her fellow members. In her
quiet time she could often be found reading, doing word puzzles or
listening to the weekly Country Jamboree on the radio. She will be
missed greatly by her family and extended family alike.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB. There will be no visitation. A
graveside service will be held at the Christ Church (Anglican)
Cemetery, Pennfield NB on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm with
Rev. Greg Card officiating. In Ellen’s memory, donations to the NB
Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
