Obituary
Ruzesky, Edward
April 25, 1933 – September 22, 2020
Ed Ruzesky died unexpectedly at the Sunnyside Nursing Home residence on September 22, 2020. His dementia had kept him from truly enjoying the last years of his life but his love of farming was one thing that never left his thoughts. He was born on a farm north of Borden and grew up with that lifestyle. No surprise, he became a farmer working the land both on the original homestead and then later at their home near Radisson. He was a successful farmer, always keeping up with the latest farming practices and equipment. You could say he was ‘outstanding in his field’. He dabbled in cattle but his true love was grain. Even building grain bins kept him and his family busy but there was always time for fishing, family holidays in the hard-topped camper, and fun times with neighbors and friends and his commitment to many Radisson community organizations and events. Ed was a neat freak – cleaning up after everyone, a perfectionist that at times drove us all crazy, and the worst joke teller ever. But he had amazing adventure stories of his childhood, growing up with his rough and tumble brothers and sisters out on the windy prairie. There was never a dull moment. He even loved fashion. His closet was packed tight with rows of shirts, suits, ties and hats that made one wonder where he wore this massive wardrobe. He could rival any woman when it came to shopping. He maybe could have been a psychologist or social worker. His need to help others by visiting friends in the hospital, helping them through the loss of a loved one, or just lending an ear for those who needed it seemed to be what he was good at doing. He volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon to contribute to those who needed support in difficult times. When it came time to retire from the farm he had to convince Connie to move to Saskatoon. The family was surprised that this was his choice, but we should have known, as his love for socializing would be easily filled. They made new friends and became involved in their McClure United Church community with its many social events. Golfing with buddies, walking in the parks with Connie and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren rounded out a well-deserved retirement. Ed is survived by his wife Constance Ruzesky; sister Betty Mahood and brother Napoleon Ruzesky; children David Ruzesky (Tamie), Linda Moskalyk (Tom), Lorrie Dobni (Brooke); 7 grandchildren Andrew Ruzesky (Jolene), Matthew Ruzesky (Laura), Amanda Bussiere (Dave), Kara Dhir (Atul), Erin Moskalyk (Ryan), Toran Dobni (Courtney), Bennett Dobni (Laura); and 5 great-granddaughters. Thank you to Randy and all of the staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home. Ed was so well cared for with a focus on farming and a love of the land evident there in the home. There will be a private family celebration of his life with the interment at Radisson Cemetery. Donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan (RMHC-SK) at 1011 University Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0K4.
