Edna’s Obituary
Born in Bangor Saskatchewan to parents Theresa and Anthony Loster, with 4 brothers and 4 sisters (George, Tony, Percy, Ken, Elsie, Ruby, Doreen and Terri), Edna May Globush passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC on Friday, October 9th, 2020. Many of you will have known Edna as a long-time Red Lake local, the catcher with the mean arm for the champion Red Lake Balmerettes, maker of the best milkshakes at the Dickenson Rec Hall, Rahill cabin regular, avid gin rummy player, walking 10 miles a day well into her old age.
Edna is survived by her son Dwight and her grandchildren Jennifer and Christopher. She is predeceased by her husband Stan and son Wayne.
A private interment will follow in Teulon, Manitoba at a later date.
To me, when I think of my grandmother, one word comes to mind: Fierce.
A word not easily given to women of a certain generation, nor easily accepted. It’s meaning has changed over time thanks to those women who stood their ground when the going got tough, who respected themselves enough to have courage and voice their opinions. Edna was fierce; fierce in her love for her grandchildren, in her friendship, in her work ethic and in her opinions. This made her a strong woman and strong women pass their strength on to those around them. In her memory I am reminded to be strong in my life, to love deeply, to work hard, not take what I have for granted, to stand tall and be fierce for generations to come.
