Dorothy
Ritchie passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital with family by
her side. At 93 years she was tired and God called her
home.
Born in
Bayview, PEI, Dorothy was the youngest in her family and the last
surviving member. Her late parents were Henry Dosite Gallant
and Beatrice Gallant (nee Gauthier).
Predeceased by
her husband Vaughn (Bunny) Ritchie in 1986, son Bradley in 1985 and
Grandsons Travis Theriault and Robert Ritchie. Her brothers, Eddie,
Joseph, Reggie, Rene, Stephen, Francis, Dennis, Thomas, Walter, Aubin
and sister Lilla.
Survived by
her son, Michael Ritchie (Pauline Bernard) of Anagance, son, Rick
Ritchie of Stoney Creek and daughter, Debbie Teakles, of
Moncton.
Dorothy loved
her grandchildren, Tera Theriault (Eric Hervet) of Moncton, Heather
Ritchie Dwyer (Michael) of Ancaster, ON, Amber Ritchie of Vancouver,
Jesse Ritchie (Denise Hannaford) of Moncton and her eight great
grandchildren, Brandon (Elaine), Talya (Jon), Talivea, Teric, Lucas,
Lauren, Jordan and Robert.
Her carefree
spirit could put a smile on anyone’s face especially when relaying
stories about growing up on PEI, her times driving stock car in the
powder puff races, and her life
experiences.
Dancing, Bingo
and Music were Mom’s favorite pastimes and she lived a very active
lifestyle up until recently. Fiddle music and playing
« the spoons » kept her toes a tapping. You could
hardly have a chance to beat her at Auction 45’s. She loved
the game and played well.
She thrived on
hard work and getting the job done. She was a busy lady
always well dressed even when cleaning the
house.
Dorothy
touched the lives of anyone that knew her and she will be sadly missed
by all. In our hearts she will always
be.
A Graveside
Service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at a later
date.
Arrangements
have been entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995).
