Dorothy’s Obituary
McIver, Dorothy Margaret (Smith) – Pugwash, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 in North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash. She was born 1937 in Pugwash, to Mildred (Peers) and Henry I. Smith. Dorothy was predeceased by both parents; sisters, Mary Lou Smith and Dolly Elliot; brothers, William (Bill) Smith, his wife Sally (LeBlanc) and David Smith. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Cecil A. McIver, daughter, Mary Louise Copp (John), Gulf Shore, son, D. Bruce McIver & Paula (Donkin) McIver, Wallace Bay, grandchildren; Julia (Copp) Morton & Scott, Jonothan Copp & Julia (Stott), Jessica Copp (Dylan Bailey), Nathan McIver and Ryan McIver; great grandchildren: Poppy, Lucia and Rosabelle Morton; brothers, Henry I. Smith & Karen (Pettigrew) Truro, Kenneth Smith (Darlene) Pugwash; also special niece and nephew, Kim & Dave Elliot; many cousins and nieces and nephews. As an adult Dorothy returned to classes and trained as a C.N.A. in Dartmouth graduating in 1974, she then worked at the Fairview Villa in Halifax, Dawson Memorial Hospital in Bridgewater and at A. R. C. in Riverton. She was an active volunteer in the community: A founder of the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary used clothing shop; Correspondent for Gulf Shore News – Oxford Journal; Involved in Saturday in the Park; and worked with the Wells Foundation and fundraising to restore many local cemeteries. Dorothy had many hobbies she loved quilting, painting, hooking. Visitation: Sunday December 13, from 2 – 4 p.m. with the funeral service Monday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m., both in Mundles Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash. Covid 19 restrictions will be in place. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the MacDonald Cemetery Fund, Gulf Shore.The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care during this difficult time.
