Dorothy’s Obituary
Hiltz, Dorothy(Dot) Logan – age 99 formerly of Lockeport, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17 2020 at Surf Lodge Nursing Home in Lockeport. Born July 9, 1920 in Port L’Hebert, Nova scotia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wilson Swim and Mary Anne(Lloyd)Swim. Dorothy(Dot) was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker, and took great pride in her home, taking care of her family and will be remembered by many for her homemade rolls, “Nanny Dot” cookies, “Dot Socks”, her many paintings and quilts. She was a devoted member of Holy Cross Anglican Church in Lockeport. Dorothy and her husband took up camping later in life and greatly enjoyed it as well as the many people she met while camping. She loved her family and was fortunate enough to have been able to spend time with them, often travelling to see them. In her early years, she lived in the lighthouse in East Port L’Hebert, helping her father with many chores including lighting the light. Dot spent her later years at Surf Lodge Nursing Home and her family would like to extend a special thanks to all the health care workers and staff who made her last years filled with warmth and compassion. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Pamela Williams, grandchildren Yetta(Blaine) Hirtle, Mark(Libby) Williams, great grandchildren Sydney Hirtle and Brett Hirtle, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Theodore Wilson Hiltz, her parents; Charles and Mary, siblings; Viola Spenser, Robie Swim, Lindburg Swim, Burroughs Swim, Ronald Swim, Roland Swim, and her son in law Curtis Williams, sister in laws; Wanata, Pauline and Anne. Cremation will take place under the direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport and a celebration of life will be held at a later date when the world allows it. Memorial donations may be made to the Lockeport Trestle Trail Remediation Fund care of the Town of Lockeport. Please leave condolences for the family at www.huskilson.net
