It is with sorrow we announce the passing of our Mother Dorcas Inez Mae (Curtis) Cando who passed away in the Miramichi Hospital on December 1,2020. She is survived by her sons Anthony (Tony) Cando, Clarence (Clary) Cando (Jean), and daughter Dorinda (Rindy) Glover all of Derby NB. She was Nanny and Dodo to grandchildren Darin Cando, Billy Cando, Kerri-Anne Cando, Chance Rayne, Michael Cando, Kristen Cando, Curtis Cando (Clare), and Adam Cando (Nadine), and great-grandchildren Penelope, Orion and Rhodora. Brother Leslie Curtis of Fredericton NB, Sisters Lorna Caretta of Mass. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Edward Cando, son Broderick (Rod) Cando (Gladys), brother Ralph Curtis (Beth), two infant brothers and one infant sister. brothers in-law Reno Caretta, Verdon Mutch and Allie Tucker.
Mom had a passion for family history and knew how your 2nd cousin twice removed was related to your 3rd cousin. She participated in organizing the first Curtis reunion with other ancestors of John Curtis and Ann (Applin) Curtis who were wed in 1823.
She was a founding member of the Miramichi Writers Group and many enjoyed hearing her read her Up-Loft stories and poetry. Mom loved when we were joined by her favorite author Wayne Curtis.
Bridge was her game. She enjoyed her time playing and meeting so many wonderful people. Win or lose we always left happy, having the time together was a precious gift .
Moms hands were never idle. If she was sitting she was knitting. She gifted countless people with her handiwork, if you met her chances are you have a dish cloth, scarf, lap blanket, afghan, sweater, baby set or mitts and socks. She had a kind and generous heart, a nutty sense of humor and made an effort to connect with everyone she met. We will hold you forever in our hearts Mom.
As expressions of sympathy a donation to The Salvation Army or St Peters roof fund.
