Obituary of Donna Clair Nice
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donna Clair (Irvine) Nice announces her passing, which occurred on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Violet (Knox) Irvine.
Donna will be missed by her loving husband W. Arthur Nice; sons Robert Nice (Lindy), J. Arthur Nice (Lisa), William Nice, and Daryl Nice; daughter Dawn Fox (Michael); as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents, Donna is predeceased by her sisters Jenny, Inez, Beryl, Gertrude, Norma, Beryl and Fern; brothers Arthur, Richard, Delmont, Daryl, Ivan, Calvin; and great-granddaughter Abigail Dawn.
Donna was very proud of her brothers serving overseas during WWII, with one serving as a peacekeeper. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 and loved playing darts with her group, “The Misfits”. She was a strong woman who raised five children and taught them the values of perseverance, loyalty, hard work, and love of family. Donna was a kind and generous woman, always there to help those less fortunate. Whether it was the child at school who didn’t fit in or the family who did not have much, she was there. Her greatest joy was when she was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would always have a big smile when she was with them or when shown the latest pictures or videos of them.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Maloney, Nurse Sandy Fowler and the staff of the 8th floor of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their kindness and care for Donna during her stay.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Lorneville Cemetery on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Lorneville & Seaview Cemeteries Inc.
