DONALD EDWARD “NED” MURRAY
1944 – 2020

He was the son of the late Donald and Evelyn (Hodgson) Murray.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Sharon (McEwen); children, Christa (Kenny) of Moncton, Cari (Luke) of Scoudouc Road, Chad (Jennifer) of Moncton, Chelsea (Matthew) of Halifax; foster-son Emile (Diane) Noel of Scoudouc Road, and Emile’s sons, Travis and Troy (Nikki).
He will also be mourned by his grandchildren, Sofia, Fynn, Emma, Leah, and Ewan; his brother Bill Murray (Barbara) of Scoudouc Road and sister Margaret Dryden (Les) of Moncton; in-laws, Sylvia and Harold Keith of St.Thomas and Sheila and Gary Steeves of Calgary, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Ned was born in Moncton on March 7, 1944. As a teenager he worked at Joe’s Ponies on Scoudouc Road, and for 19 years following owned and operated Brookdale Stables, forming many lifelong friendships. In 1978, Ned and Sharon founded Dawnshay Dairy Farm, which they ran for 24 years. Ned was passionate about farming, horses, and the beautiful, simple things in life, including sleigh rides in the winter, plowing the fields in fall, long horseback rides in any season, and the sweet smell of fresh-cut hay. He was one of the lucky people who loved his work, and he loved sharing that life with family and friends. Ned also enjoyed visits and sharing memories with his friends and family, who meant so much to him.
A special thank you to Extramural Shediac, and especially to Marten Turmel and Dr. Marcel Mallet.
