Dolly’s Obituary
Dolly Margaret Dorey, aged 83 of Melvern Square, NS passed from this life to her eternal home on July 19, 2020 at the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Dolly was born and raised in Carrington, Cumberland County, NS. She left home in her late teens to attend a bible institute in Hubbards, NS and then worked at the People’s Gospel Hour in Halifax. In 1961 she married Robert Dorey and together they raised six children. Dolly’s greatest joy was caring for her family and tending to her home in Melvern Square, where she has lived since 1966. Dolly and Robert, along with a few other concerned individuals, began Truth for Youth Bible Camp in 1965, providing many young people spiritual guidance in a beautiful camp setting. Dolly spent countless hours in the camp kitchen preparing meals – always happy to work unrecognized behind the scenes. Dolly’s Christian faith expressed itself through service to others. She often taught children’s Sunday School and was involved in the women’s ministry of the churches where she and her family attended. Dolly was a woman of deep convictions and held unswervingly to her love for God and the salvation he provides through his Son, Jesus. Dolly was predeceased by her father, Frank Courtland DeWolfe Sr. and her mother Emily Margaret (nee McMaster) (Dewolfe) Simpson; and by her son-in-law Robert Trickett. She is survived by her husband, Robert Leslie Dorey and their children, Stephen and Ruth (Skinner) Dorey and their son Shane; David Dorey and Darlene; Peter and Kathryn (Belyk) Dorey; Carol Trickett; Kevin & Mary (Spurr) Dorey and their daughters Anna and Sidney; Andrew and Tanya (Fritz) Dorey and their children Caleb, Emma, Grace and Delia; and by her brother Waldo and Linda (Veley) DeWolfe and nieces and nephews. An online Memorial Service celebrating Dolly’s life will be held on Thursday, July 23rd at 7 pm. To receive instructions and a link to this service please send an email to srdorey@gmail.com A private graveside service will be held in Church Grove Cemetery in Melvern Square, NS.
