Doarann Murphy (nee Nolan)
1929-2020
June 23, 1929 – June 6,
2020
Passed peacefully away on June 6, 2020 in the presence of her
family, in her « corner of the world », her home, just shy of
her 91st birthday, Doarann Murphy (née Nolan) of Mount
Arlington Heights.
She is predeceased by her parents James and Maria Nolan,
parents in-law John and Nora Murphy, husband Henry (1981), infant son
James, oldest son Kenneth, grandson Matthew Pretty, son in-law Tom
Murphy, daughter in-laws Sharon and Joan Murphy, her twin brother Jim
Nolan and siblings Anthony, John, Mike, Mary Jane, and Elizabeth and
their spouses.
Leaving to mourn are her seven children Carmel (Ernie
Brenton), Maria (Rob Pittman), Beulah, Max, Austin, Russell and
DeeAnn; her youngest sister Margaret Sanford and sister-in-law
Margaret King. She also leaves her grandchildren Tommy (Kim), Denine
(Darryl), Darren (Sam), Leslie (Jimmy), Shannon (Kelly), Tammy, Ryan,
Natasha (Tim), Justin, « Little » Russell (Candace), Ashley,
Bradley, Brett (Stephanie), Brent (Teresa), and Jamie; her
great-grandchildren Logan, Brady, Carly Rae,Jamie Lynn (Timmy), Tyler,
Alexah and Ainsley, Alex, Attica, Emerson, and Riley; as well as many
nieces, nephews and friends.
Gratitude is extended to Kim Power and Kathleen Griffiths who
were her home care workers for the last several years. Her
children would also like to thank the staff at Placentia Health Centre
who have provided medical care to Mom during her many in-patient stays
and her outpatient visits. To Nurse Robyn Alcock, Continuing Care
Nurse, thank you for your professionalism as well as your
kindness.
God Bless Father Jose and the Eucharistic ministers who have
visited mom.
Our Mom, « our Queen, » was a pillar of strength who
built a foundation for her children, cemented by her kindness and
gentleness as well as her strength and determination. Mom never
measured wealth by money or stature, she only ever wanted to be
surrounded by her family and made sure there was plenty of food and
her greetings always included, « Did you have anything to
eat, » « Get something to eat, » and « Don’t
leave here hungry. »
« Like a butterfly emerges, and unfolds its graceful
wings, a child grows and develops with the love a mother brings.
We’re thankful for the times, when she encouraged us to try,
For God gave us our wings, but Mom you taught us how to
fly. »
As expressions of sympathy donations will be given to the
Long Harbour Catholic cemetery fund.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral
Home, Placentia. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Public Health Emergency,
or as Mom called it « The Virus, » a private family viewing
