Dicky Mulder July 12th 2020 avis de deces

Dicky Mulder (nee Jansen) of Red Deer, AB passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Red Deer Hospital at age 83.
She leaves behind her husband, Jerry, of 62 years; son, John (Carol); daughter, Denica (Taras); grandchildren, Kelli (Chad), Jared, Jay, & Jocelyn; great-grandchildren, Paxton & Deacon. She will be lovingly missed by her sisters & brothers in-law, numerous nieces, nephews & the many friends she made both in Canada & Holland. She was the youngest of 4 siblings that predeceased her and now joins Marijke, Evert, Bart & her parents.
Dicky was born in Sneek, Friesland, The Netherlands on April 16, 1937. At age 20 (1957) she immigrated to Canada to join Jerry. Dicky & Jerry were married exactly one year later on Dec 22, 1958, living first in Blackfalds, AB then 60 years in Red Deer, AB.
When she arrived in Canada, she went straight to work at Michener Centre (Alberta School Hospital), then on to have a career with the Red Deer School Board as a ECE (early child educator), working at Central, Eastview, GH Dawe, & Grandview Elementary until her retirement. She made countless friends over these years with her fellow colleagues.
Dicky was our family’s historian & record keeper of photos & history. She kept family of the past alive this way, making sure we all knew where & who we came from. She wrote a story of her own experience as a young girl in WWII German occupied Holland/The Netherlands and vividly recalled being liberated by Canadian soldiers. We will cherish her records & photo albums. She was a truly talented & accomplished woman known for her art, painting & calligraphy among other things.
After retirement Dicky suffered a major stroke in 2004 that almost took her life. She continued the next 16 years of her journey paralyzed in a wheelchair. She had many ups & downs with her health but showed us all her resilience & zest for life. She volunteered at Red Deer Hospital & Michener Extended Care where she also loved to sing in the choir. She will always be remembered for being fun loving, generous & caring.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Due to Covid we request that you email dickym@telus.net for details if interested in attending.
We thank you for all your words of condolences during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Red Deer Hospital.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Dicky Mulder July 12th 2020..
