Behenna, Declan
Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1963, passed away peacefully in his Waterloo home after a short battle with cancer on December 15, 2020. Beloved husband to Wendy (nee Janzen) of 34 years. Loving father to Connor (Charmaine) and Colin (Marissa). Dear brother to Fiona (Steve) and Joanne. Survived son of Margaret “Rita” Behenna. Predeceased by his father Edward Behenna and watched over by Chelsea Alvarez. He will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews.
Declan was a dedicated employee of 33 years at Blount Canada Ltd. in Guelph. His passion for sports and love for motorcycling formed many lifelong friendships. Off his bike, he enjoyed spending weekends at the family cottage in Point Clark.
Declan’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5 -8 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 and 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday December 20, 2020 at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. A private family service will be held. Those wishing to attend Declan’s visitation must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467. Face masks are mandatory. Extended family and friends may view Declan’s service via livestream at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 at www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to KidSport Canada – Ontario would be appreciated by the family. Donations can be made online or cards will be available at the funeral home. Declan recognized the importance of minor sports and how they provide life skills for kids. Think of your donation as sowing seeds for our future community.
