David William Smith
On Friday, May 29, 2020, Heaven received a very special angel.
We, the family of David William Smith brokenheartedly announce his passing after a short courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at home with his loving family by his side, at the age of 66.
David was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. David enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at Groves Point Beach, his daily coffee and chats with his friends at Robin’s in Sydney Mines, but most of all his special hunting and fishing adventures with his grandson Clayton.
David worked his early years at Northside General Hospital in the kitchen, and later moved on to the seas, and became a fisherman with Nickerson’s /National Sea Fisheries for many years. In later years, he travelled to Dawson’s Creek in British Columbia and worked as a maintenance man. David is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Betty (McGean) Smith, Sydney Mines. The other two loves of his life were his daughters Tracey (Shawn) McMullen, North Sydney and Kim (Jon) Mulholland, Sydney Mines. Poppy will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Clayton Smith (Kelly), North Sydney, Matthew Herridge (Brittney), Fort McMurray Alberta, Celine McMullen, North Sydney and Janelle, Kiana and Jalyn Mulholland, Sydney Mines. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren Kyle and Shawna McMullen and by his step-great grandson Kamryn Jessome, his brothers Francis (Genesta) Big Bras d’Or, James (Karen) Coxheath, and Robert (Cathy), Sydney Mines, sisters Joan (Nick) Musbally, Point Edward and Brenda (Brian) Marsh, Truro, sister-in-law Glenda (McGean) Graves, Kentville and his brother-in-law Roy Graves, Kentville.
