David was born on March 5,1947 in Miami, Florida, where he lived his childhood years. He graduated from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania with a degree in industrial engineering and enjoyed a career in telephone communications all over the United States. In 1977, David came to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada for the adventure and the work.
It was in Ottawa that he met Nancy Rickard. They shared an absolute bond based on values, activities, and commitment to family. After their wedding, David and Nancy moved to Atlanta, Georgia where their children were born and became ‘Georgia Peaches’. The family returned to Ottawa in the early 90’s.
In good health, David embraced the outdoors with family and friends. Whether he was learning to skate at 31 on the Rideau Canal or teaching his daughters how to bike, camp and canoe, his enthusiasm for outdoor activities is fondly remembered. Within close family David’s daily bike rides to work, especially in the Southern heat, are legendary.
He and his family lived for about 20 years with semantic dementia; his passing brings solace and peace. Down the road, when times are different, all may celebrate his good memories.
