Daryl Gare Mundle
1926-2020
It is with much sadness that
we announce the passing of our father, Daryl Mundle, who left us
peacefully at the Moncton Veterans Health Center just a few days short
of his 94th birthday. Born in Mill Creek (Upper Rexton), NB, he was
the son of Horatio and Katie (Dixon)
Mundle.
Daryl was a Veteran of WWII
proudly serving his country overseas with the Cameron Highlanders of
Ottawa from 1944-45 as well as the Canadian Army Occupational Force
Germany from 1945-1946. After the war, he had a long and successful
career with the Irving group of companies, and was a loyal Irving man
until his passing. He was not big in stature, but had a big heart and
personality. He was hard to debate on any subject because he read
constantly and remembered everything. We have lost our
encyclopedia.
He was a devoted father and
grandfather, taking part in every activity that his children and
grandchildren were involved with. He was a big hockey fan,
contributing by managing teams and volunteering on Local Boards and
Provincial Associations.
Daryl was always busy. He
loved spending time in his yard in Rexton tending to his property
along his beloved Richibucto River. He could always be seen in the
yard mowing the lawn or working in the garden from sunup to sundown.
Winters were spent lugging countless children to hockey around the
province.
He was predeceased 10 months
ago by Marion, his wife of 61 years, whom he missed deeply. They are
both sadly missed by daughter, Patricia Roberts (Gregory); sons,
Marven (Dawn); David (Angela); and Brad (Cindy); 8 precious
grandchildren, Melanie, Shayna, Jacob (Genna), Lindsey, Brett,
Miranda, Emma and Ben, as well as a special niece Ellen Allain, and
several other nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition
to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Kathleen Olsen in
2006 and brother Harry (Joan) in 2018.
In accordance with
Daryl’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at
this time. The Family will have a service of remembrance at the
gravesite in Rexton at a later date. At that time, the family will
host a small gathering of friends on Sunset Drive, particulars will be
circulated at a later date.
We would like to thank the
incredible staff of the Moncton Veterans Health Center for their
exceptional care and compassion. Dad fit in and felt at home
immediately. He was content and enjoyed his time with the staff and
residents.
In Memory of Daryl, donations
to the St. Andrews United Church Cemetery Fund, Rexton, would be
appreciated.
