Obituary of D. Eileen Grove (nee Plain)
Of St. Thomas, ON, our mother passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in her 95th year. Born in Shedden, ON, March 24, 1926 to Pearl (née O’Hara) and Gord Plain, she married our Dad, Fred Grove in 1946. Dad predeceased her in 2013. Together they raised five children, Shirley Ford (Fran), Larry Grove (Mary), Ron Grove (Paula), Marilyn Bishop (Doug), and Linda Fox (late Tom -2017). Throughout her lifetime, nothing made Mom happier than being in the company of family, especially if there were cards involved. Her newsy letter writing to friends and family will be sorely missed. Loved by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Eileen was the last of her family, having been predeceased by three brothers, Ken, Jim and Tom Plain.
In keeping with her wishes, a private visitation for the immediate family (A properly worn mask or face covering is required) will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160), followed by a private graveside service at McArthur Cemetery, Southwold. Flowers respectfully declined. If so desired, memorial donations to the STEGH Foundation or charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
Please note: As per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO), thebao.ca/registrars-directive-bao-additional-restrictions-for-bereavement-sector/, attendance at indoor funeral services and visitations and outdoor funeral services and visitations including graveside services will be restricted.
