It is with great sadness that the family of Colette Fortin announces her passing on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the age of 97 years.
Colette was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1922 and moved to Girouxville, Alberta. She finished high school in Falher, Alberta and went to a “normal school” which is now University of Alberta in 1940. She taught for three years in a rural one-room schoolhouse near Donnelly, Alberta and married our father, Anthime Charland in 1943.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her four children: Alice, Joseph (Nancy), Evangeline (Roland) and Elisabeth (Dan); twelve grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Anthime Charland and Jean Charles Fortin; sister, Madeleine Gauthier and brother, Pierre Deslauriers.
A Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., Connelly-McKinley, St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2020 with a visitation one hour prior at the same location at the same location.
The family would like to thank the staff at Youville (long-term) Home for their care and compassion during Mom’s stay.
