Bruce Allan Rodie, known by all as ‘Chuck’ died on July 2, 2020 in Salmon Arm BC at the age of 79.
He will be remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years Joyce Rodie, his stepson Darryll Thompson & family, his sister Muriel Beaubien & family and all his numerous friends.
Chuck was a man of many hats and had a long career of hard work. He spent time in the logging industry in Port Alberni from 1965 to 1970. From there he had his own trenching and excavating business. He worked the heavy equipment from 1970 to 1976. Chuck then went to work for the Federal Government as a Supervisor at Rogers Pass. He worked there from 1976 until he retired in 2001.
In retirement he could sometimes be found at the Royal Canadian Legion where he was a member, but what Chuck truly enjoyed was his time outdoors. He loved travelling and camping. He and Joyce found many lovely spots to stop and take in the scenery while travelling around the country. When he wasn’t seeing the sights he loved to fish and hunt. Many days he could be found out fishing on the lake or telling tales about his catch by the camp fire. He would be surrounded by good food, and well loved friends. Much laughter was shared by all.
His family and friends will miss his quiet loving nature and his contagious laughter. We shall gather at a later date to share stories and remember our Chuck.
