Walter Bonn went to be with his Lord and Savior, December 26, 2020.
Dad had a strong love for the Lord which was shown by his devotion as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born November 25, 1925 in Hallembruch (Skrzypkowo) Poland, approximately 20 km from the city of Torun. He immigrated in 1949 to Canada to be reunited with his mother and siblings
In 1952 he met the love of his life Helene, and November 7th 1953 they were married. The Lord blessed their marriage with 2 sons and a daughter. Dad began working in the construction industry and it wasn’t long before he started his own construction company. In 1967 he moved his family to Kelowna from Lethbridge, where they settled on an orchard in the Glenmore valley. Dad had a strong work ethic but also took time to enjoy his love of fishing, both of which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Dad had a strong faith in his Lord. He served the church in various ways and especially loved welcoming people at the Sunday services. The Lord blessed Dad with a long life and allowed him to reach the milestone of 95 years.
Dad was predeceased by his parents Adolf and Alma, childhood siblings Leo, Emil and Lilli, sister Alice and brother Armin. He leaves behind; his wife of 67 years, Helene, son William (Gundi) Bonn, daughter Sharon (Horst) Grams, son Marvin (Anita) Bonn, 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter. He also leaves behind; his brother Ed of Kelowna, sister Martha and brother Art of Ontario. Our family wishes to thank Drs. Maytham, Du Plessis, Lucas, and Achtem and the staff of HCCA Palliative care for their compassionate care in the last year of Dad’s life.
Dad we love you. You will be greatly missed, never forgotten and forever in our hearts until we meet again.
