Obituary of Bing Bastien
The family of Wilfred “Bing” Bastien announce with deep sorrow his passing on February 18, 2020, at the Temiskaming Hospital at the age of 81.
Bing will be forever remembered by his son Tony Bastien and daughter Anne Marie Garofalo (Paul). Bing held close his dear grandsons; Justin Bastien (Ligia), Joshua Bastien, Connor Charette and Dorian Charette. They were his light and his love. Bing was born in Cobalt, Ontario on May 10, 1938, to parents Alphonsine (Bourque) Bastien and Wilfrid Bastien. He is predeceased by his wife Doreen Ann Bolger and his siblings; Toni, Edmond, John, Leo and Marion Booth. Bing will forever be loved and remembered by his brothers; Percy Bastien of Aylmer and Richard Bastien of Gatineau. Theresia Moeltner was a long-time friend and travel companion. The two travelled many highways across Canada and the United States.
Fiercely devoted and driven by discipline, Bing along with his two brothers John and Ed were part of the soft drink business. Together they built a successful business and then he retired after 50 years. Beyond business, he was always curious about extending life beyond his own and became an avid traveller with Theresia by his side. They reached all corners of the continent with their camper. This curiosity permeated into his intimate family circle, as he was always interested in knowing about the details of his grandchildren. Bing spent many summers camping and loved being at Beaver Ridge.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 29th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish in New Liskeard. A light lunch and social to follow at the Parish Hall.
