Bernard Joseph Goguen
1940-2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Bernie Joseph Goguen at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on November
1, 2020. Born at his parents’ home in Notre Dame de Kent on
September 18, 1940, Bernie was the oldest of 8 children of the late
Rita and Marcel Goguen of Grand Digue, New Brunswick.
Bernie is survived by his wife, Linda (VanDine) Goguen; his
daughters Denise Doucette (Blake Keirstead) of Riverview, NB, Michelle
Embree (Brian Leger) of Riverview, NB, and Janette Ashton (Mark
Ashton) of Sherwood Park, AB; grandson Dylan Embree of London, ON;
granddaughters Jessica and Cora Ashton of Sherwood Park, AB; his
sisters Rachael Goguen (late John) of Nanaimo, BC, and Claire
FitzPatrick (late Bill) of Grand Digue, NB; his brothers
Desiré Goguen (Anita) of Moncton, NB, and Jacques Goguen of
Shemogue, NB; his sister-in-law Marjorie Goguen of Moncton, NB; his
cherished aunt Dorothy Leger (late Lionel) of Fredericton, NB as well
as several brothers and sisters in law, nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his
brothers Camille, Paul, and Norman.
Bernie was a man of few words but was a true salesman all his
life. He first started with Combine Insurance, Standard Life
Insurance, then for many years as a paint salesman for Sico, National
Paint, and Tibbitts Paint with whom he travelled all of Canada. Before
retiring, he was a salesman for Hogan Paving. He was an avid
outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt and was a long serving member
of UCT for 50 years.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McAdams Funeral
Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB. Due to COVID 19 restrictions,
there will be no visitation. A private memorial mass will be held for
invited guests at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 603
Union Street, Fredericton, NB, on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 11:00
am with Father Maria Arokiam as Celebrant. A livestream of the mass

Interment will be held at the Hermitage Cemetery,
Fredericton, NB, following the Mass. For those who wish, donations may
be made to the NB Extra Mural Program – Fredericton or the DECH –
Palliative Care.
