Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Barbara Jane Graham (nee Riddell) on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Bluewater Health with her loving family by her side.
Barbara was the wife of the late John Edward (Orkey) Graham. Loving mother of David (Tamara) Graham, Dowling, Michael (Pam) Graham, Sarnia and Charlaine (Randy) Scott, Corunna. Beloved grandmother of Lauren Scott (Kyle Smith), Corunna, Meighen McPhedran, Corunna, Melissa Graham, Sarnia and Cameron Graham (Jasmine Davies), Bright’s Grove. Doting MeMe to Lila and Ivy McPhedran and Veronica Smith.
Pre-deceased by her parents Hubert Jeffrey and Violet Elizabeth Riddell, brother Hubert Riddell and sister Dorothy Casler. Survived by her sister Marjorie Riddell and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara dedicated her life to community involvement. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, serving on the board, in the choir and teaching Sunday school. Barbara was proud to serve the people of Point Edward as a councillor, where she was a member of the Board of Works, the Point Edward Police Service Board and was a strong advocate for the fire department. She was a member of the Sarnia Housing Authority, was a Deputy Returning Officer for Federal Elections and was a past Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-President of the Liberal Association. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi and a past regent of the St. Clair Chapter of I.O.D.E.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bhargava and the health care team at West Lambton Community Health Centre, the Bluewater Health Emergency Department, and Dr. Crombeen, Dr. Maddison and the nurses and support staff on Palliative Care for their exceptional, compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at D.J. Robb Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 102 Victoria St. N., Sarnia on Saturday January 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation for one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, The Hospice and Bluewater Health – Palliative Care.
