Obituary
On the morning of April 25, 2020, Arthur (Art) Hoehne of Westlock, Alberta, left this world and entered into the Presence of his Lord at the age of 88. His memory will be cherished by his devoted wife, Ella; and his children, Randy (Ruth), Garry (Kathy), Terry (Rita), Cheryl (Paul) and Lois (Ritch); grandchildren, Victoria, Colin (Bailey), Kyle (Damaris), Kris (Rebecca), Rayah, Karl (Krystal), Timothy (Stephanie), Becki, Jessica, Samantha, Erik (Brooklyn), Samuel, Heidi, Benjamin, Hanna; great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Karly, Kate, and Gabrielle; sister, Hilda Schultz; nephews and niece.
Art was predeceased by his parents, Rudolf and Martha Hoehne; sister, Ruth; brother-in-law Eric Schultz.
Born in Manitoba, Art’s family moved to Salmon Arm, BC in his late teens. After high school, he attended Northwest Baptist Theological College in Port Coquitlam. Upon completing college, he went to work in Fort McMurray AB at a summer job and ended up staying to begin and pastor the Fort McMurray Baptist Church for 15 years. From there, the Lord led him to pastor a church in Fort Chipewyan (1970-1979), and Bonnyville (1979-1997). During his retirement years, he served in short term pastoral roles for Fellowship Baptist churches in Fort Saskatchewan, Mayerthorpe and Westlock. He will be remembered fondly by many people that he encountered along his earthly journey.
Due to the current gathering restrictions a small family graveside celebration took place April 29th at Evergreen Cemetery, Edmonton, Alberta with Lloyd Brown officiating. Lord willing, there will be a Celebration of Life announced at a later date.
