Obituary of ANNE DIDUKE
Anne Diduke
December 20, 2020 Anne Diduke peacefully began her journey to reunite with her Jimmy. We the family, are heartbroken but are truly blessed to of had the honor of having this beautiful soul in our lives.
Anne was born March 24, 1930, to Titiana and Teodosie Romaniuk. Anne was the eldest of their four daughters, Mary (Markham), Helen (Kanik), Kathy (Tretiak), and sister in heart Stephie Yaworski
.
I’ve heard stories about how my grandparents met, Jimmy caught a glimpse of Anne, and approached her with his, ukulele, and offered to play her a song. It must have been a magical tune. The young couple married May 18th of 1946, they started life off as any newlyweds would of, pictures in old family albums, show a young Anne and Jim carefree and travelling.
In 1948, their legacy would begin. First they welcomed a daughter, Linda in 1948, and then a son in 1956, John.
As their kids grew up, Anne and Jim continued to build a solid foundation for their family. Anne worked at Eaton’s Downtown, bowled in a woman’s bowling league, and helped Jimmy to study to become a locomotive engineer. To quote, my Gigi “your Baba is so smart, she should have been a lawyer.”
The couple had a love for travel; their passport showed that, eventually Mesa, Arizona would become their winter home for 6 months each year.
Throughout the years we all came along. Baba’s love for knitting afghans soon turned to baby booties, as the Great-Grandchildren arrived.
We all have something we will miss about Anne, the taste of her homemade chicken noodle soup, short bread cookies, her famous red meatballs, or coleslaw. Or remember sneaking a homemade garlic dill pickle out of the fridge.
Maybe it might be the spoon racks with tiny spoons from places travelled, or the large collection of ceramic elephants she collected. Perhaps it will be the way she smelled, when she hugged you, and gave you an extra little squeeze, and would say, “I love you, sweetie.”
Anne, our Mom, Baba, and respectfully Old Baba will be forever missed by, and loved forever by, her daughter, Linda Kaskow (Joe 2015), their daughters, Kerianne Therrien, and Robyn MacMartin (Greg Bishop), her son, John Diduke, daughter in law Karen, and their sons, Joshua Diduke, and Drew Diduke. As well as by the greatest joy in life, her great grandchildren, Hailey and Hannah Therrien , Michael MacMartin, Emma, Luke, and Lorelai.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Anne’s memory.
A private family service will take place, with interment at All Saints Cemetery.
