Anne passed away peacefully at Brampton Civic Hospital with her daughter by her side on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the age of 75. Beloved wife of the late William James (Jim). Loving mother of Audrey Murphy (Al). Cherished grandmother of Taylor. She is predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Somerton and brother Billy.
Living in Bolton since 2007, Anne was a volunteer at Ellwood Memorial for over 7 years. She was lovingly referred to as «Grandma» to the whole school. Her time spent with the children in the Kindergarten classes gave her a tremendous amount of joy. She was also an active member of the Caledon Senior’s Centre socializing and spending time with neighbours and friends.
Her most cherished role was being Taylor’s «Nan». From walking him to and from school everyday to lunchtime outings or getting ice cream, they were inseparable. As Taylor grew, the title of «Hockey Grandma» became her new moniker as she attended every event she could from practices, to games, to Tournaments near and far. There was never a bigger fan or Grandmother that could be prouder. Taylor was, and will always be, her greatest love.
The family would like to acknowledge the extraordinary work of the staff at Village of Sandalwood Park in Brampton. The care Anne received since October 2016 provided peace of mind to the family when they could no longer provide it. She was treated like a much loved family member.
An angel on earth for her compassion and kindness, a guardian angel now in heaven above.
