On Wednesday afternoon, November 4th, Angus John (A.J.) MacLeod of Grand River, passed away at the Strait Richmond Hospital. A.J. was born on October 29, 1927 in L’Ardoise Highlands to parents Alex Dan and Marcella (Morrison) MacLeod.
He is survived by his son, Richard MacLeod of Grand River, and his three granddaughters, Kristina Wagner Hornbuckle (Sean Hornbuckle); Jillian and Jeanna Wagner; three great grandsons, Beckham, Landon and Finlay, and several nieces and nephews.
A.J. was predeceased by his wife Jean (Bartholomew) MacLeod and daughter Nancy (MacLeod) Wagner. He was also predeceased by his three brothers, Norman, Ralph and Alex MacLeod.
A.J. was a lobster fisherman for many decades. He was a talented handyman and could fix just about anything from furnaces to plumbing and anything in between. He had been a volunteer with the Grand River Fire Department for many years. You could often count on him greeting you at the door, or taking tickets at community events. A.J. was a “jack of all trades”; he could turn his hand to anything and he was always available to lend a hand when member of the community needed help or something fixed. He was a member of the Grand River United Church.
A service will be held at the Grand River United Church on Saturday, November 14th at 11:00am; Pastor Keith Wiseman officiating. Burial will be in Grand River Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Grand River Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury.
