On Sunday May 24, 2020 our hearts were broken and our lives changed forever when our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend Albert White passed away peacefully at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 82 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Albert was the son of the late Cecil and Rose (nee Buttery) White, he was also predeceased by his brother Wilson White, sister Dollie Madore (Leon), father and mother in law Clifford and Rebecca Osmond, sisters in law; Harriet Lillington, Mardee Osmond, brothers in law; Norman (Donalda) Osmond and Leslie Currie.
Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories, wife Rosie White (nee Osmond) of 56 years. He will also be sadly missed by his children; Sylvia (Danny) Thomas of Fort McMurray AB, Roxanne White (Jack) and Catherine (Tom) Pike all of Port aux Basques. He will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren; Clinton, Brandon (Kathy), Dillon (Candice), Andrew, Jordon, Megan; great grandchildren Brett and Katie. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters and brothers in law; Shirley White (Charlie), Carrie Currie, Garnet Osmond (Nora), William Osmond (Marilyn), Terry (Barbara) Osmond, Eric Osmond (Selena), David Osmond all of Port aux Basques, Nina (Bud) Davis of Fort McMurray AB, Morgan Lillington of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Albert was a quiet man by nature but his quietness would not out do his many talents. After retiring as a Long Haul driver with Terra Transport after 30 plus years of service Albert spent many days doing the things that brought him the most joy. He could be seen riding his signature white Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle many days during the spring and summer, he also spent countless hours in his greenhouse planting and growing his own flowers and vegetables. He was an avid artist who painted many beautiful pictures, he also loved his camera and taking pictures was a favorite hobby of his. He loved darts, playing league darts for many years at the Legion and he was often found playing hockey at the stadium in the winter. He loved going to Scott’s Cove Park in the summer, making videos of the many talented people who performed there and he always shared them with his family and friends on Facebook. His favorite past time in the last few years was going to the government wharf for a yarn with the boys, something that he always enjoyed to past the time.
Due to the current public health advisory of COVID-19, there will be a private family viewing at East Haven Funeral Home. In keeping with Albert’s wishes cremation will follow with the interment to take place at a later date. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in memory of Albert can be made to his family. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
