June 3, 1926 – May 27, 2020
Ada Kolesar (née Bigué) passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2020 at the age of 93. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Michael; four of her children, Jude (Bev), Mark (Diane), Mary Jane (Allan), and Martin; six grandchildren, Mika (Luke), Sarah (Mike), Chrissie (Will), Griffin, Erin (Jason), and LauraLee; and seven great-grandchildren, Liam, Tristan, Astrid, Aidan, Lizzie, Lachlan, and Isla. Also survived by her brother-in-law Lawrence Kolesar and her nephew John Kolesar. Ada was pre-deceased earlier this year by her daughter Myra Ann.
Ada traveled a great deal with her husband Michael on his military postings in Canada and abroad in Europe. She loved entertaining family and friends and was open and welcoming to friends and strangers on her doorstep. Ada was an avid China painter and a lifetime member of the Rideau Guild of Porcelain Artists. She excelled at cooking, sewing, knitting, crochet and art of all types including making jewelry. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends all benefited from her ability to patiently teach without reservation or expectation. She has been described by her family as « loving, kind, fun, creative, grounded, modest, hardworking and thoughtful.” She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
The family would like the thank the staff of the Champlain LHIN and CBI Home Health for the personal care Ada received at home during her battle with dementia. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, masses can be offered for Ada at St. Elizabeth Parish, 1303 Leaside Ave, Ottawa, (613) 728-5994.
