Fitz Arthur Williams Sr passed on October 21st at the age of 70. Fitzy will be remembered by his wife Cynthia, 3 kids, Joy, Fitz Jr and Kareem and 11 grandkids. He also leaves behind his people of Lluidas Vale, his hometown in the Parish of St. Catherines, Jamaica.
Fitzy was born in Luidas Vale Jamaica on September 1st, 1950 to his Mother Josephine Weir and Father Jopseph Williams. He was the 2nd youngest with 5 siblings.
Fitz spent his early years in Vale until the age of 21 when he decided to move to ‘fawren’ to seek opportunity. He was in Ontario for a year before he met his future wife Cynthia Williams in 1972 and so the next chapter of his life began. In 1975 his first son was born and they lived in their 2 bedroom apartment on Capri Road in Etobicoke. By 1981, Fitzy was entering into his 5th year at Metal Koting and that same year he had his 2nd son. The 2 bedroom apartment became cramp limited and it was time to move on. Fitz and Cynthia packed up their things and moved to Scarborough to acquire more space for their growing family. They left the apartment behind, but that was about the only thing they left behind. Everything else from Capri was still apart of Fitz. The relationships he built within that apartment complex exists until this day.
In 1985 the family moved to 91 Rakewood Crescent, located at Kennedy and Finch. This is when Fitz fully became a courtesy uncle, dad and brother to a number of people and Fitzy welcomed each and every single relationship with open arms. He treated everyone as if they were family.
Fast forward 5 years and the family moved to a new area called Markham but with plenty of resistance from the 2 sons as they were leaving their friends behind. Opportunity knocked and Fitz and Cynthia had to answer. The Williams were about to embark on another adventure and their family was about to get even bigger! At this point any home that Fitz was in was home to a lot of people. It was home to his sons friends, his friends and his wifes friends. Going through a tough time, the door was always open. Going through a transition and need somewhere to stay, the door was always open. Pawty fi keep, no problem, we’ll skin the chicken, season it and ready up for the bbq. All these actions were done out of the goodness of his heart. It was a lot of work, but as long he made his guests feel welcomed and they were happy, he was happy. It was almost to a fault how much work he put in for others. Fitz touched everyone that crossed his path so it would be selfish of anyone to say he only left behind 3 kids, 10 grandkids and a wife. No, Jah Balty left behind his people of Vale, Fitzy left behind his cricket community and his Metal Koting Alumni, Mr. Williams leaves behind the SS Crew, Markham family, Members of the outsiders, Fitz leaves behind his Tim Hortons crew and a lot more.
He will be remembered by everyone for always being the coolest guy in the crowd, with his shades on (regardless of lighting) and a hat to match his outfit. He is gone but never forgotten.
Bless up Jah Balty!
